First Parish of Concord: pulpit hanging to celebrate music
48" x 96"
painted and printed repurposed clothing,
fabric samples and sheets; commercial fabrics, machine and hand
The artist led the church choir, a folk singing and instrumental group and a teen gospel choir through visual
brainstorming workshops to collect images which expressed the
experience of music as a community spiritual expression. With this
input, the artist created the imagery of the twining of vines to
represent the melding of voices and sound, the column to represent the church and the wind taking the blooms off to the distant view to
represent the parishioners' experience of the divine.
